Lesnar has been suffering from the flu for over three weeks, leaving him no proper time for camp. UFC updated their website with the news that the rematch between Tito Ortiz and Forrest Griffin will now serve as the main event. The fight had originally been scheduled as the co-main event, with Mark Coleman serving as Ortiz’s original opponent.

The site also indicates that the card will feature a new co-main event “to be announced this week.” This is most likely going to be the light heavyweight showdown between Luiz Cane and UFC newcomer Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. The fight has been rumored for a while, although the UFC has not as of yet officially announced it.

Carwin vs. Lesnar has been rescheduled for January of 2010.

Palhares last fought in January, defeating Jeremy Horn, while Sakara is on a two-fight win streak in the UFC.

- Dave Meltzer reports that a Brock Lesnar vs. Shane Carwin UFC Heavyweight Title fight is set for UFC 106 on 11/21, with both sides in serious negotiations. UFC 106 will also likely feature Tito Ortiz vs. Mark Coleman.

Cain Velasquez, who was supposed to fight Carwin on 10/24, has been told that he will be getting another opponent for that show.

UFC has decided to go in this direction because they want to get Lesnar in another major fight as soon as possible to kick-off a November to February run of big shows.

Randy Couture would be the biggest draw against Lesnar, but he is set to fight Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira on 8/29 and would not be ready to fight Lesnar so soon after that. The winner of the Couture/Nogueira fight, along with the winner of the Junior Dos Santos vs. Mirko Cro Cop fight, and the winner of the 10/24 Velasquez fight, would then be the next major challengers for whoever wins the Lesnar/Carwin fight.
