TNA Major Impact: Sting and Christopher Daniels Brawl
Written by: Joe on Thursday, May 31st, 2007
TBLWrestling.com Presents TNA Major Impact!

Many events from tonight’s Impact could have been considered a the “major impact” of the night, but I wanted to talk about Sting and Christopher Daniels and their brawl around the arena specifically. This is something that you don’t get to see every week (unfortunately).

Remember when we had the original ECW that showed late-night in the Northeast area of the United States? You’d be flipping around the channels and stop on MSG Network only to see some guy named Sandman and another one named Tommy Dreamer doing the most amazing things ever. As time went on, the hardcore style weakened until we have the laughable excuse for “hardcore” matches that you see on television today.

However, those matches are few and far in between. One of the biggest reasons that wrestling exploded in the late 1990′s was because of the “no rules, anything goes” style that was pushed on to many of the main event storylines. Hell, WCW even chartered a pay-per-view called “Uncensored” where the entire show was filled with hardcore matches!

But you just don’t get that today. Maybe you get a guy going through a table or a weak-looking sledgehammer shot to the stomach, but you never really get hardcore brawling inside and outside of the ring. Watching Sting and Christopher Daniels brawl around the arena was a nice change for a wrestling show. I enjoyed that little part of Impact.

In other impact moments, we had a great match between Kaz and Chris Sabin. There’s something about Chris Sabin that I really like – he’s just got that bit of persona that not all of the lightweights seem to be able to grasp.

Of course we had the Styles and Tomko match with Tomko replacing the mourning Jeff Jarrett (and God Bless the Jarrett family). I was never a big fan of these inter-faction fights, but I think TNA pulled it off with moderate success.

I guess I should also say that watching Bashem and the Damaja (formerly known as the Bashem Brothers in WWE) is nice. For as far back as I can remember, I’ve always enjoyed tag team wrestling. The Eye Spy videos with the X-Division guys is hilarious. We’re promised a new Sonjay Dutt next week (no more “Playa from the Himalaya?!) and we’ve got Black Machismo in full effect!

Overall a fun show – and all in a one-hour time slot!

Quote of the Night:
“What are you doing in my chair, boy? There’s only three square feet in this building that I want and you’re in it!” – Jim Cornette telling Eric Young to move out of his chair

As TNA grows, so does the talent. So that means Sting, Kevin Nash, Kurt Angle, and Booker T. Maybe some people have forgotten, but I haven’t! Three of the guys that I named were probably responsible for one wrestling company going out of business! — AJ Styles, TNA Impact – October 30, 2008
